Our History

Reddy Architecture + Urbanism begin as Fitzgerald Reddy Associates.
Maurice Fitzgerald and Tony Reddy, formerly directors at Hope & Cuffe Associates, found the firm in 1982.

In the 1980s and early 1990s, the practice engages in early urban regeneration projects, including Dean Court on Patrick Street in Dublin, Market Cross Shopping Centre in Kilkenny, and government offices in Kilkenny and Waterford.

In 1996, the firm is renamed Anthony Reddy Associate Architects Limited and moves to the Malthouse in Grand Canal Quay, Dublin 2.

During this time, the firm develops masterplans and student housing for Dublin City University.

By 2000, the practice has moved to its current location at Dartry Mills in Dublin 6.

The firm expands its portfolio to include major residential and large-scale regeneration projects such as office developments at Custom House Plaza, and the large-scale regeneration of Custom House Square.

In 2004, Tony Reddy is made president of the RIAI and new offices are opened in Cork and Belfast.

Reddy A+U is one of the few architectural firms to survive the 2007 financial crash through diversification and expertise in the educational and healthcare sectors.

In 2008, Reddy secure a major project from University of Galway, including the Science Research Building and Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences facilities.

Reddy A+U becomes one of the first architectural firms to implement BIM 360 and Revit

In October 2009, Tony Reddy and Rob Keane begin rebuilding Reddy A+U. The practice starts to recover from the economic downturn, securing numerous project commissions in London, such as Embassy Gardens, and masterplan commissions for Connolly Station and Heuston South Quarter.

In 2011, the office in London opens followed by an office in Sligo, which has since relocated to Galway.

Today Reddy A+U boasts an international workforce of over 215 employees representing 15 nationalities.
Honouring their commitment to diversification at leadership level, Lisa Smyth and Lisa Wynne are appointed as directors in 2023.

The multi-award-winning firm continues to innovate with sector leaders in AI, inclusive design, biophilic design, healthcare and workplace design, and decarbonisation.

The Reddy team were always available and engaged very closely with Sandvik over the course of the project. Prior to moving into the new office in August 2022, our team had been working almost fully remotely since March 2020, when the covid pandemic started.
